1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to CitePro AI Reading Assistant (the "Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CitePro website and services. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Modified Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after modifications indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

CitePro is an AI-powered reading assistant service that provides the following core features:

  • Article Summarization: Generate structured summaries of long articles using AI technology
  • Source Mapping: Use EDU (Elementary Discourse Units) technology to precisely map summary points to original text locations
  • Bidirectional Interaction: Provide bidirectional highlighting and quick positioning between original text and summaries
  • Content Export: Support exporting summary results in Markdown or plain text format

The Service supports two input methods: URL link fetching and direct text paste. We strive to provide high-quality AI summaries but make no warranties about the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the summaries.

3. User Responsibilities

By using the Service, you agree to:

  • Lawful Use: Use the Service only for lawful purposes and not violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Content Rights: Have the right to summarize the content you submit (you are the content owner or have obtained necessary authorization)
  • No Abuse: Not use the Service for batch processing, automated access, or requests beyond reasonable use
  • No Interference: Not interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
  • No Malicious Content: Not submit content containing viruses, malicious code, or harmful software
  • Comply with Limits: Comply with our content length (500-10,000 characters) and format (URL or plain text) restrictions

4. Prohibited Activities

Strictly Prohibited activities include:

  • Submitting copyrighted content without necessary authorization
  • Submitting content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, defamatory, harassing, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
  • Impersonating any person or entity, or falsely stating or misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity
  • Accessing any part of the Service or any account without authorization
  • Stalking or otherwise harassing another person
  • Using the Service to infringe upon the intellectual property rights or other rights of others
  • Attempting to reverse engineer, hack, or modify any part of the Service
  • Selling, transferring, or granting access to the Service or related accounts

5. Intellectual Property Rights

5.1 Service Ownership

The Service and its original content, features, and trademarks ("Service Materials") are owned by CitePro or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or otherwise use Service Materials except as expressly provided in these Terms or with our written consent.

5.2 User-Submitted Content

You retain ownership of all content you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process, store, and transmit it solely for the purpose of providing the Service. We may use anonymized and aggregated data for service improvement and analytics, but will not use your content for other purposes or claim any rights to your content.

5.3 Generated Results

Summary results generated by the Service are owned by you. You may freely use, modify, and distribute these results, subject to the ownership of the original content and applicable laws. We make no ownership claims to generated results.

6. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to keep the Service continuously available but reserve the right to:

  • Suspend or Terminate: Suspend or terminate all or part of the Service at any time without prior notice
  • Modify Features: Modify or discontinue any features, services, or policies at any time
  • Restrict Access: Limit access to certain features or services, or restrict access to certain devices or geographic locations
  • Mandatory Updates: Require you to update software or applications to continue using the Service

We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

7. Payment, Refunds, and Subscription Management

7.1 Subscription Plans

CitePro offers a Free plan and paid plans (Pro, Max). The Free plan can be used without registration. Access to premium features requires a paid subscription. All fees are exclusive of taxes, levies, or duties imposed by taxing authorities, and you are responsible for payment of such taxes.

7.2 Monthly Subscription Refunds

Pro Plan ($9.90/month, 500 credits):

  • No credits used after payment: Full refund (100%)
  • Up to 20% credits used (≤100 summaries): 70% refund
  • 20%-50% credits used (100-250 summaries): 40% refund
  • Over 50% credits used (>250 summaries): No refund
  • More than 7 days since payment: No refund

Max Plan ($19.90/month, unlimited credits):

  • Within 7 days, unused or minimal use: Full refund (100%)
  • Within 7 days, normal use: 50% refund
  • More than 7 days since payment: No refund

7.3 Annual Subscription Refunds

Pro Plan ($7/month × 12 = $84/year):

  • Unused and within 14 days: Full refund (100%)
  • Up to 20% used and within 14 days: 70% refund of remaining months
  • After 14 days: 50% refund of remaining unused months
  • More than 6 months used: No refund

Max Plan ($14/month × 12 = $168/year):

  • Within 14 days, unused or minimal use: Full refund (100%)
  • Within 14 days, normal use: 50% refund of annual fee
  • After 14 days: 50% refund of remaining unused months
  • More than 6 months used: No refund

7.4 Non-Refundable Cases

  • Requests submitted after the refund period
  • Inability to use the Service due to user-side issues (network, device compatibility, etc.)
  • Account terminated for violation of these Terms
  • Multiple refund requests for the same billing period
  • Dissatisfaction with AI-generated content quality or accuracy (see Section 9 for AI output disclaimers)

7.5 Refund Request Process

  • Send a refund request to contact@citationgeneratorpro.com
  • Include: registered email, subscription plan, and reason for refund
  • We will review and respond within 3 business days
  • Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method within 5-10 business days

7.6 Post-Refund Effects

  • Subscription will be immediately downgraded to the Free plan
  • Used credits will not be retroactively deducted
  • Refunds will be returned via the original payment method

7.7 Plan Changes

Upgrades or downgrades will be prorated immediately. Downgrading may result in loss of features or capacity; we are not liable for such loss.

7.8 Technical Outage Compensation

If a technical outage on our end prevents normal use for more than 48 consecutive hours, affected users may request a fee credit for the downtime period.

7.9 Legal Compliance

In jurisdictions where applicable law (e.g., EU consumer protection laws) requires more lenient refund policies, local legal requirements shall prevail.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • The accuracy, reliability, availability, or timeliness of the Service
  • The accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated summaries
  • That the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
  • That the Service or its servers are free of viruses or other harmful components
  • The quality, safety, or legality of any results obtained through the Service

Any material downloaded or obtained through the Service is at your own risk. You should not rely solely on AI-generated summaries but should verify against the original text.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, VERISUMMARY AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Liability arising from contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or other theory
  • Any loss or damage resulting from access to or inability to access the Service

In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you have paid to us (if any) in the past 12 months.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CitePro and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or debt (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from: (a) your use or misuse of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any third-party rights.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service at any time, for any reason (including, but not limited to, breach of these Terms), without prior notice or liability.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service immediately ceases. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including, but not limited to, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnification, and limitation of liability) will continue in effect.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

12.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

12.2 Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved as follows:

  • Negotiation: First, attempt to resolve the dispute through good-faith negotiation
  • Mediation: If negotiation fails, attempt non-binding mediation
  • Arbitration: If mediation fails, resolve through binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA)

12.3 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in a class action, class-wide arbitration, or representative action.

13. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and CitePro regarding use of the Service
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, that provision will be limited or deleted to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will continue in full force
  • Waiver: Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision
  • Assignment: You may not assign these Terms or any rights or obligations hereunder. We may assign our rights and obligations without restriction
  • Third-Party Beneficiaries: These Terms do not create any rights for any third party other than CitePro and you

14. Export Compliance

You agree to comply with all applicable export control laws and regulations. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to U.S. government sanctions, nor are you listed on any U.S. government denied party list.
