Common Formatting Pitfalls

Correct AMA Implementation

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness. CDC website. Published 2024. Accessed March 15, 2026. https://www.cdc.gov/covid-vaccine/effectiveness

Annotation: Organization as author. Page title in sentence case. Website name italicized. Access date and URL included.
Incorrect (APA Hybrid Error)

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. (2024). COVID-19 Vaccine Effectiveness. Retrieved from https://www.cdc.gov/covid-vaccine/effectiveness

Annotation: Incorrectly uses APA-style year in parentheses, title case, and "Retrieved from" phrasing. AMA requires Accessed date format.
