Surname + Initials

List surname followed by initials without periods. For edited books, add "ed" or "eds" after the names.

02 / Title Style

Italicize Title

Book titles are italicized and use sentence case. Capitalize only the first word, proper nouns, and the first word after a colon.

03 / Edition Info

Edition Number

Include edition number if not the first edition. Place after the title, e.g., "2nd ed." For multi-volume works, include volume number.

04 / Publication

Publisher + Year

List publisher name followed by a semicolon and year of publication. City/state is no longer required in AMA 11th Edition.
